The Definition of Classic

Why is it that it always seems something goes wrong when I make regular old chocolate chip cookies? For some reason mine always turn out flat! GRRR. It’s probably because I overmix it way too much, I don’t know why but I do that with just about everything. I like to do a very thorough mixing job. You can just call me the mixing master, if you will. Did I mention I also have a tendency to spoon the cookies a wee bit too close?Whatever…Looks only get you so far. These are freaking awesome anyways!Seriously, how can you go wrong with chocolate chunk (or chip)? I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like them, not even that one girl from my baking and pastry class. Wooeee she was something else. Anyways she was nice, just a wee bit picky.Well, I’m sure you’ve all got your own little chocolate chip cookie recipes, but here’s mine. Just the good old fashioned back-of-the-Nestle Bag recipe. I’ve had this cookie as long as I remember and I’ve loved it. There really is nothing that beats a good chocolate chip (or chunk) cookie. Try me.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

(from Nestle)

2 sticks butter, softened

3/4 c. white sugar

3/4 c. brown sugar

2 eggs

1 t. vanilla extract

1 t. salt

1 t. baking soda

2 1/4 c. flour

1 (12 ounce) bag chocolate chips or 1 (11.5 ounce) bag of chocolate chunks

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Cream together butter and sugars. Add in eggs, one at a time. Mix in vanilla. Stir in flour, salt, and baking soda. Fold in chocolate chips or chunks (I used chunks).
  3. Scoop cookie dough onto baking sheet by the rounded teaspoonful and distance about 2 inches apart. Bake 9-11 minutes or until golden on outside of cookies. Cool on sheet, then on wire cooling rack.

I actually typed this recipe without looking at the bag, I have it memorized. Is this frightening?
