5 Minute Homemade Popcorn

I love popcorn. It is by far my favorite snack right now!

It’s great because you can mindlessly eat it, but never feel guilty with a heavy, gross, icky feeling in your tummy.

Anyways, I’ve been meaning to make my own popcorn for a while now…I was so shocked at how easy it is!! Seriously, you must make this if you’re a popcorn fan because it look me less than 5 minutes. Including cooking time! And maybe eating time…;)

Kettle Korn

(adapted from Frugal Homemaking)

(Serves one, or two if you’re nice)

2 Tbsp. popcorn kernels

2 tsp. oil

1 Tbsp. sugar  (I use 3 packets of Equal)

Dash salt

Brown paper lunch bag

  1. Pour the kernels, oil, sugar and salt in a small bowl.  Mix until all kernels are well coated with sugar, salt, and oil.
  2. Pour the bowl’s contents into the paper bag.  Fold the top of the bag over 1″ twice.
  3. Place in the microwave on popcorn setting or for about 1 minute, 15 seconds. Either way, shut off microwave when popping slows to less than a pop every second to avoid burning.
  4. Open slowly and carefully, enjoy!

Random Fact of the Day: Life expectancy for Russian men has actually gone down over the past 40 years. A Russian male born today can expect to live an average 58 years.

  1. Just clicked over from your comment on my blog! Thanks for the link love. Your peanut butter-chocolate bars had me drooling. I was hoping the recipe was at the bottom of the post! Congrats on your move to your personal domain name! Someday I’ll get to that point….
