But in all seriousness I do try to lead a somewhat healthy lifestyle. I play soccer for my high school varsity team and a club team and I workout at least 6 times a week whether it is with my team or on my own.

In the warm months of the year (those few short ones we get here in the midwest) I love running 5K races with my dad. We have found them to be kind of a friendly competition that oddly bonds us together. Plus the races always benefit some great organization! Now that is what I call a win-win situation.

Unfortunately, Papa Beautiful Disasters has developed some pretty bad back problems within the past yearish so he’s kind of become more of a cheerleader for me during my races. Still love all the memories we’ve made, though!

I have baked and cooked with my mom all my life. My earliest baking memories go back to when I was lil tater tot and my mom would have “Cookie Friday” and we would bake chocolate chip cookies together for us  to eat when my brother and sister came home from school (and when I say we baked them, I mean she would bake them and I would eat the dough). Ever since then I have truly enjoyed baking and cooking. It somehow always relaxes me and amazes me at what incredible things come from such simple ingredients.

Keeping up a blog is definitely something that has become  a huge aspect of my life. At times blogging can feel like homework, but it’s FUN homework. Woah… fun homework? Maybe homework is not the right word, but it can get stressful at times when I have lots of tests, homework, and other things going on with my life and then taking pictures, editing, and writing a post seem impossible. Even though blogging may seem like a job at times, it is something that I feel like I would never be able to give up. I love the satisfaction of making something delicious and hearing reader’s feedback. At the end of the day, it is all worth it.

Things I really like:

PEOPLE: my family (Harry, my dog included), my two bestest friends in the universe that I would go crazy without, people who like my food, humble people, hard-workers

EDIBLE STUFF: Reese’s Pieces, Trader Joe’s cookie butter, apple caramel lollipops would be my entire diet if possible, cookie butter/Biscoff spread, peanut butter, CHICAGO deep dish pizza, carrots (wait, what? YES, I like carrots…which happen to be a vegetable), Starbuck’s mocha light frappes (I feel like I sound so hoity toity saying that), cran-grape juice, gummy bear vitamins

ENTERTAINMENT: Modern Family, Breaking Bad, How I Met Your Mother

ACTIVITIES: Baking, cooking, soccer, running in various races (5Ks, triathlons, etc.), digging holes (not really), being a total idiot with my friends

Halloween 2006, me in 6th grade at the time being held by my sister. She was a bumblebee and I was..indecisive. Football player/soccer player?

Things I could do without:

Spam (the internet kind, not the food. I have not tried the food, so I can’t really be the judge of that one)

Truffles with weird, gross fillings. SO gosh darn deceptive! They look like delicious chocolate from the outside, then one innocent bite turns into a full out spit fest of weird spicy raspberry filling. True story

Red Hots

Spicy gum

Negative Nellys

Super redneck country songs (Sorry y’all).  Opinion of this has CHANGED! You are lookin’ at a cowgirl wannabe

Scary movies

Keeping up with the Kardashians

Ungrateful people

Feel free to ask me any questions! I’m all ears for suggestions as well:)

Me and my awesome Dad (do you see the handy rope that attaches to his sunglasses around his neck?…super fashionable, right? *cough* *cough*)

  1. Hey Casey, nice blog and thanks for the comment from yesterday. Thought I’d stop by and drop a comment.

All the depictions and pictures in your blog of the delectable food is making me drool and thus I must resist the prospective temptation of tearing apart my kitchen for tasty sweets.

Nice blog (as you can see I’m a fan of repetition)! I’m definitely a new regular reader, and I’ve just added your site to my blogroll.

  2. Have a Wonderful DAY and Week! Do your best on finals and know that you will be completed before you know it.

Love the blog and the delicious goodies. Keep up the great work! :)

  3. Nice blog. I love that you have grown up baking with your mum. I hope my daughters have the same fond memories. They love licking the spoons and bowls. You have some great recipes. Thanks for stopping by my blog too.

  5. Casey – you have a great wit mixed in with your recipes. I’ve got you added to my favorites list. One of these days I’m gonna make the bannanna bread recipe and I’ll let you know how it is.
