Gram’s Butter Cookies with Pink Frosting

Alright, so I was really, really looking forward to these! Time out…this picture, seriously (right below) why is it so yellowey!!! It’s driving me bananas!!! K, time in. 

I made them, I tried the dough, sampled the frosting, and….

Didn’t get to try the darn cookie! All of them had been snatched by the rest of my family within a day!!!

I made these Friday night and they were gone by Saturday evening. I guess that means they’re good? ;)  

Well, there’s one thing I can tell you for sure, the dough and frosting were delicious!! Of course though, why wouldn’t it be? It is Gram’s recipe, after all.

Anyways..I guess I’ve just got an excuse to make them again, right?

Gram’s Butter Cookies

1 c. butter

6 T. powdered sugar

2 c. flour

1 t. vanilla

1 T. warm water

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Mix all ingredients together in mixer, scoop dough or form into balls and place on cookie sheet. Flatten dough ball slightly with the palm of your hand.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 18-20 minutes. Cool on wire rack and frost when cooled, if desired. (See Frosting recipe below)

Gram’s Frosting

1 stick butter

1/2 c. sugar

1/2 c. water

1 T. flour

1 t. vanilla

1 c. powdered sugar, or as needed

food coloring, if desired

  1. Boil water and flour for one minute.
  2. Mix sugar, butter and vanilla together with flour/water mixture.
  3. Add in powdered sugar as needed. I just kept adding in by the spoonful while mixing.
