Promming! (PART TWO)

Note: This is part two of “promming!”, which is my adventures of last weekend with.. guess it. prom! For part one, click here

Once I got home I looked down the street and saw one of the girls in my prom group already taking pictures with her date. I was still in running shorts and a zip-up… so I kind of flipped out and ran all around the house getting ready. I threw on my dress, threw some make-up on my face and called it a pretty. I think my mom photographed every second on me getting ready. I’m honestly a little shocked she didn’t catch one of me in my underwear. *phew!*

We then proceeded to take more pictures than anybody ever would have thought possible. We were a little unfamiliar with the lens on our Nikon, so a bunch of our pictures turned out fuzzy, but we still ended up getting some good ones. We took pictures of just me at the house, pictures with my date at my house, pictures at this garden place with my whole group. It was one big picture frenzy. My mouth and cheeks got the workout of a lifetime.

After pictures we headed over to the dance. FINALLY! It was awesome!! It’s funny how similar prom is to a wedding. They served up salad, chicken, veggies, potatoes, and a choice of chocolate cake or cheesecake. I got the chocolate cake. If you know me at all, you know that’s like a total no-brainer question. And then we finally got to go on the dance floor and shake our bootys. It was an awesome time…my legs were actually sore the next day! (embarrassing) After the dance, we headed over to the post prom party at the park district, where they had tons of rooms with games and prizes and food and pictures. Sooo much stuff to do there. My date and I got a caricature drawing that turned out awesome. I look pretty great, if I say so myself. Hopefully he’ll give me a copy soon, I seriously wanna frame the thing!

Confused as always

They had loads of prizes they were giving out every half hour like $50, $100, $250, $1000, iPads, beats by Dre headphones, gift certificates, you name it. I didn’t win anything but a few of my friends won money and gift certificates. The whole post prom party ended at 3 A.M. I was ex-hausted! I got home, took a shower to get all the yucky hairspray out of my hair, then passed out on my bed. I knew I had to get all the sleep I could because…

Me and a few friends headed over to Six Flags Great America for the day. We left around 9 A.M. and took the hour drive to get there. We got in the park, got in line for our first roller coaster, were soooo close to the front of the line, then an announcement comes on. “We’re sorry, but due to severe weather conditions, we’re going to have to close down this ride”. So we’re like, okay this sucks but at least we can go on some other rides. All of a sudden lightning comes from like every direction. I have never seen so much lightning, so close, in my entire life. The ground was literally shaking and it felt like the earth was going to crack. Needless to say, we took off in a dead sprint to the car. It was a total bummer that we just drove all that way to not even get to go on one roller coaster, but luckily we had a plan B. We headed over to one of my favorite places in the world, Lake Geneva (where my friend/date has a lake house) and ate lunch there at this incredible little place called Popeyes, not to be confused with the fast food restaurant, Popeyes.

After lunch, we decided to head back home and watch a movie at my house. We picked “Drive”, it’s got something for everyone. Blood and action for boys, Ryan Gosling for girls. #winning. Overall it was an awesome weekend that I would never trade for anything in the entire world. Maybe some mint chocolate chip ice cream….but probably not.

promming! (PART ONE)

Note: I wrote this entire “Promming!” post in a single post and decided it was just plain too long and that nobody could possibly stay interested in my weird stories for that long sooo I split this little “promming!” shebang into two posts. Read on lovahs! P.S. sorry for no recipe, one will be coming at you soon. I’ve had zero time to even think about making a recipe and taking pictures and everything.

Okay, so I know I told you guys last Saturday that I would post pictures up from prom…so here we go. I’m not going to put up any of my date and I because I’m not sure how he’d feel about that if he just somehow found himself on some random blog. I know it’s unlikely and all and I’m just flattering myself but…I’m not going to risk it. Ehh well maybe one faceless pictures, that’s ok..right?!

I consider this okay…his face isn’t showing!

Here’s how it all went down. Starting from Friday. I went to school like any good junior girl in high school would do. That’s me! Then I had two meetings for soccer. Went straight to my nail appointment.

Now I’m not sure how this is anywhere else, but a nail appointment at the place I go to means NOTHING. I waited over an hour for my “appointment”. After the long mani/pedi I headed over to the tanning salon. Let me set the record straight here. I am not a person who ever goes tanning. This was strictly for prom. I had a yellow dress, bad tan lines, a ghostly chest. It was inevitable. I am not jersey shore wannabe. I have never actually seen a full episode of jersey shore, despite the rave reviews from my friends….*gag*.

After the tanning salon, I finally got home around 8:30 and was finally able to eat dinner. I was kind of close to eating the seat belt when I was driving home because I was so hungry. Not really, but if it was covered in chocolate I think we all know how it would go down.

On Saturday morning, I started out with a soccer game at 11:30. We had to be at our meeting by 10 A.M., so I consider that a slightly early Saturday morning for me. We won our game (woohoo!) then every junior and senior left the field in a full track sprint to their cars to get to their hair and make-up appointments for prom. Some people literally had 5 minutes to make it to their appointments. Thankfully I was able to take a quick shower to wash off the mud (it was rainy during our game, by the way) but I didn’t wash my hair because apparently thats a giant no-no for up-do’s. Thankfully my hairdresser was able to put dry shampoo in and make me smell and look all pretty.

Week in Review (4/30-5/4)

Hey there! Another week in the life of Beautiful Disasters has come and gone, once again. Let’s review!

Monday I shared with you guys my April Secret Recipe Club post! I loved hosting my blog this month and the recipe I made, Cinnamon Pull Apart Bubble Bread, was absolutely incredible. So yummy and delicious! Obviously you can hardly ever go wrong with cinnamon and sugar. ;)

Wednesday I finally proved that I have an ounce of self control and was able to put the spoon down and actually BAKE with cookie butter! I made some cookie butter cookies that are absolutely cookilicious. It’s a word.

Thursday I had a soccer game, so our team took the bus all the way there. Got there. Saw lightning. Waited about a half hour. Then they decided to reschedule the game. Seriously one of the most annoying things you can do to a soccer player right there. So much wasted time! Anyways, I really just felt like I needed to do something when I got home. Wanna know what I did? Biked 13 miles on the exercise bike. Now I don’t know about you but that A FREAKING TON to me! It felt great though. I’ve been thinking about doing a triathlon this summer, and if I want to do it, I know I’m going to have to be able to bike a lot more than 13 miles!

Friday I showed you guys a tasty pasta salad recipe. Only recently have I discovered my love for pasta salad. It’s perfect!! Refreshing, delicious, light, yet starchy. Tasty, tasty, tasty! Friday was quite the busy day for me. This is what went down…I went to school (of course!), then I had two meetings for soccer, got my nails done for prom after waiting an hour and a half in the nail salon, then I got my spray tan for prom after waiting a little bit there, too, then I finally got home around 8. I’d like to clear one thing up, I AM NOT the tanning type! This is like the first time I have ever gotten one, but I have a yellow dress so I felt like you kind of need to look tan for that. Plus, I have some pretty funky tan lines from soccer.

Today I have PROM!! WOHOOOO! So excited :) I have a game this morning though which is a wiiittle bit inconvenient, but hey, it’s keeping this interesting. I will just be running around ALL DAY today. Then, of course, everybody always does something the following day, so we’re going to 6 Flags Great America. Can’t even remember the last time I went to Six Flags, but I’m a sucker for roller coasters, so I’m super excited!! I’ll post pictures for you all next week
